About Fiona Mawson
BA (Hons) MPsych (Counselling) Member AAPi. Accredited Consultant EMDRAA
Fiona Mawson (MAPS) is a highly accomplished Counseling Psychologist with a wealth of experience and knowledge to support clients with mild, moderate and severe psychological distress. Accredited EMDR Practitioner and Consultant, Fiona has established EMDR Consulting, a service dedicated to training and consulting EMDR therapists, ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of EMDR therapy.
With a career spanning several years, Fiona served as the Principal Psychologist and Director at Kalinda Wellbeing Centre PTY LTD and Kalinda Psychology & Counselling Service, where she founded a multidisciplinary mental health service catering to children, adolescents, and adults presenting with a wide spectrum of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and interpersonal conflicts.
Fiona's academic achievements include a Master's in Psychology (Counseling) from Monash University, a Diploma in Transpersonal Counseling from Phoenix Institute, and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Psychology from Swinburne University of Technology, among other qualifications.
Fiona is affiliated with the EMDR Association Australia and the Australian Association of Psychologists Incorporated. She has volunteered on the Standards and Assessment Committee for EMDR Association Australia and served as the National Convenor for the EMDR Psychology Interest Group of the APS.
In addition to her clinical and organizational roles, Fiona is a dedicated facilitator conducting workshops on EMDR and various mental health topics. Her commitment to ongoing professional development is evident in her continuous involvement in EMDR Therapy, where she is a co-trainer with EMDR Stepping Stones offering training in EMDR refresher courses and advanced EMDR courses for complex clients.
Fiona Mawson is a Counselling Psychologist and an accredited practitioner with EMDRAA registration. Fiona completed her EMDR basic training in 2015 progressing to advanced training with Dr. Roger Solomon attending structural dissociation and masters classes over several years from 2015. Fiona has developed an EMDR focused practice in Chelsea Heights, Victoria. She has developed skills integrating EMDR with ego state therapy to work with complex clients such as returned veterans, clients with dissociative disorders and clients with complex childhood trauma. Fiona has a particular interest in spirituality, spiritual crisis and spiritual emergence and integrates this knowledge with her EMDR practice.
